September, 2005 Nutrition Hints from Betty Kamen, PhD, and Dr.
Michael Rosenbaum, MD - Ulcers and NSAIDs Many older patients in the United States use both over-the-counter
or prescription traditional NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
such as Tylenol, etc.) plus doses of aspirin (for supposed heart protection).
Such patients are at the highest risk for ulcer disease and its complications
[often death if the bleeding can’t be stopped], but this fact is
underappreciated by clinicians. Triple Relief NSP’s Triple
Relief (Stock # 1851-3) contains a blend of herbs that have shown
to provide effective pain-relief for inflammatory disorders such as low
back pain and arthritis. Triple Relief provides a powerful combination
of herbs that have demonstrated the ability to selectively inhibit COX-2
activity, as well as the ability to block the production of other substances
that sustain inflammatory conditions once they are triggered. Also, unlike
NSAIDs, Triple Relief helps relieve pain and inflammation without causing
gastrointestinal irritation or damage and without contributing to the
deterioration of joint cartilage. Triple Relief contains Nexrutine, a
natural plant extract that has been found to Cox-2 inhibition properties,
Boswellia, a valued Ayurvedic (Indian) herb and Willow Bark extract. “Triple Relief Works!” Triple Relief Gets Susan’s Stamp of Approval Nature’s Sea Calcium offers another option for calcium supplementationNature’s Sunshine now offers Nature’s Sea Calcium, a natural calcium plus 70 trace minerals from the sea. Media Misinformation About Echinacea - Another Blow to Truth in Reporting The media is saying that this federally funded, double-blinded
study found that Echinacea was useless in preventing or treating colds.
This study was funded by a branch of the National Institutes of Health
and led by a researcher who has consulted with makers of antibiotics in
the past. So why am I saying it wasn't a good study? Are You Taking Your Vitamins? Make your vitamin regimen part of your daily routine: wake
up, warm up, exercise, stretch, brush your teeth, eat a healthful breakfast
and take your vitamins. At first, the changes may be so subtle that you
can't pick out a particular result (although most people do experience
increased energy and immune function). In fact, you may not be aware of
the benefits until you're in old age, when you realize that you're in
better shape than your contemporaries. TESTIMONIALS “I had a Bed & Breakfast guest arrive from
Florida. She had been flying all day and had an awful stomach ache and
lots of gas. She had taken something for it that did not touch it. I happened
to have some Activated
Charcoal on hand which I had bought to try that test of taking 10
capsules and then wait to see how long the black stools appeared—showing
the amount of transit time for my bowels. “My mother received her blood work tests back
last week after being on the 90 day challenge
for the full three months. Her fasting blood glucose levels are down to
110, the lowest she has been since being diagnosed as a diabetic over
4 years ago. In addition, her triglycerides and LDL are down. The only
thing she has done differently besides the supplements for the 90 day
challenge is to begin a regular exercise routine. What a wonderful combination
of supplements!” - Nicole Bandes, Phoenix, AZ | |
