NEWS FLASH: (CBS)
A new study in the Archives of Neurology, February 20, 2004, looked
at Alzheimer's disease in almost 5,000 people age 65 or older in Utah.
Those who took vitamins were compared to those who didn't.
Medical Correspondent Dr. Emily Senay reports the study found a combination
of vitamin E and C supplements reduced the incidence of Alzheimer's
disease by about 64 percent. There was no benefit from the use of vitamin
C alone, vitamin E alone, or multivitamins alone. In the study, vitamin
E use was categorized as more than 400 international units of vitamin
E. Vitamin C use was defined as at least 500 micrograms of ascorbic
acid.
The findings suggest that vitamins E and C may offer protection against
Alzheimer's when taken together in the higher doses available from individual
supplements. Multivitamins typically contain the relatively small, recommended
daily allowance of vitamin E, usually somewhere around 22 international
units or 15 milligrams. Vitamin C in a multivitamin is normally 75 to
90 milligrams. Individual supplements of C and E contain much larger
doses of up to 1,000 international units of vitamin E and up to 1,000
milligrams or more of vitamin C.
Editor’s Note: Nature’s Sunshine Vitamin
E is natural and, thus, 5 times more effective than the synthetic
form of vitamin E, which is what is available in the drug and discount
stores. Citrus
Bioflavonoids, our premier Vitamin C product, contains 5 mg. of
vitamin C plus Bioflavonoids, which always occur with vitamin c in nature.

Testimonials from Very Satisfied Users*
“I have 2 older women who were on inhalers and
are now off them using Elderberry
Defense and applying an essential oil blend of 4 oz. oil, 20 Frankincense,18
Lemon, 15
Sandalwood,
6 Ylang Ylang
to their chests. One of them ran out of the Elderberry Defense for a
week and started wheezing again. The other went back to her doctor and
he said she was doing well and that he was amazed. Both are going to
stay with the program!” Margretha

NEED FOR:
Vitamin B
Stress, prescription
drugs, sugar in-take, and chronic illness can all increase the body's
need for B vitamins. B-complex supplements are especially important
for smokers, drinkers and people with erratic diets or work schedules.
Whole grains are the only natural source of B-complex, so for most people,
supplementing with this “stress vitamin” becomes very important
is they are not going to be getting it in their diet. Before buying
a B-complex supplement, make sure it includes at least 400 micrograms
of folic acid. Nutri-Calm
contains all the B vitamins and wonderful, natural herbs which support
the nervous system.
Question of the Month: Can you combine too many different herbal combinations?
“There
is very little concern in taking more than one combination because herbs
are classified as food. No one ever worries about combining lettuce,
carrots, potatoes, peaches, etc in one meal nor do you have to be concerned
about combining garlic, parsley, LBS II, or capsicum. Remembering that
herbs are food will help you feel confident when you take multiple combinations
and single herbs along with vitamin at one time.
”My husband
and I take at least 15 products a day, many of which are already combinations
themselves and have done this for 23 years. We are way healthier and
work much harder than most people our age!”
