Nutrition Hints
Omega-3 for Allergic, Asthmatic Children
Omega-3 fatty acid supplementation in early childhood may help prevent
the development of allergic and asthmatic symptoms that include
coughing.
Children given omega-3s significantly experience reduced prevalence
of coughing. Omega-3 reduces an inflammatory substance that heightens
cough sensitivity. By reducing this substance, symptoms are lessened.
House dust mite reduction also helps. Researchers conclude that
omega-3 supplementation and reduction of house dust mites may
significantly prevent allergic sensitivities and airway diseases
in early childhood.
